The Facebook thread
I gotta be honest. I am lazy too write a proper blog but I am ready to ramble so here I start.
Facebook- Who can live with it? Who can live with it?
Once upon a time, I used to think that FB was a cool place. For one thing, it helped me find some good, bad and nasty old friends that I wouldn't have found any other way. It also helped me get in touch with all kinds of people but after some time, it slowly became a pain in the face.
Pics
Seeing girls' pictures was loads of fun before I started feeling like an undercover agent and a pepping tom. I gotta admit that once I stopped doing that, FB started losing its taste.
Apps
Some people love the apps but not me sir. Up to this day, I haven't found a FB app that I really liked. Cleaning pets or drinking blood may pass the time when you are too bored but I would rather hand-wash my poor cat while drinking soy milk. (Yes I am fasting).
Chat
The chat acts funny from time to time by sometimes repeating your responses multiple times or not showing em at all and U can't invite friends on a common chat page as far as I know.
Wall posts
Have you guys noticed that people tend to be a lot more annoying on FB than they are in real life? Many luv to write every single thought that passes through their
heads as if sb pointed a gun to their heads and shouted "Write what your thinking now or I will take your life" Who cares if you got bored in the office or found the meaning of life after seeing the sunset? I don't. See in real life if somebody annoys you, it is easier for you to say "piss off matey" and everything would go back to normal but on FB that can warrant an insult from his unknown friend that you never knew existed so you really have to be careful.
Dislike for honesty
People tend to lie a lot more on FB. That is a fact. One of my FB friends once posted her picture that was too blurred to see and the girls were like "Wuye yene Konjo sitameri. Miss Ethiopia got nuthin on U!". Apparently, I was the only one who had the guts to tell her that the picture is barely visible but sadly, my honest comment ended up getting removed after 10 minutes or so proving to me that honesty had a proper burial on BookFace.
Tags
And then there is the famous tag. Some friends may tag you with all kinds of pictures that have no connection with you or your own pictures that U wouldn't want others to see. Fb doesn't allow you to delete a tagged pic others posted so you have to kindly ask or beg (depending on the picture) the poster to remove it. Sometimes people's pictures also tends to be posted straight on your profile page. Why is his "beautiful" picture on my profile? Maybe that is exactly what I need in my life.
Pokes
I almost forgot the poke guys. I think a poke is a strange activity. I would gladly prefer a roundhouse or an uppercut.
Causes
What do U guys think about the endless causes that people suggest for you to join? Some even thank you after U join a cause they suggested. It must be really important aye.
FB vs AU
Last but not least, Cyan has this theory that one of the reasons our wonderful AU died is because many of our members switched to FB. I don't think that is true or is it? 
So what do U think guys about FB? Good or bad, do let it out

I was probably one of the obnoxious type when I was on Facebook. However, in a moment of clarity (to be read "after a bad mid-semester result"
), I realized that I was wasting too much time waiting for someone to acknowledge my "wit and charm" by commenting on my comments 
. That was when I pulled the plug. To cement my decision, nobody seemed to notice. Now, I am a free man with no illusions of grandeur or self-importance

On the other hand, FB can be an asset if used "appropriately". Don't ask me to define appropriate though.
As for FB vs AU, I believe FB has one thing AU doesn't - EVERYONE

I would have created a
I would have created a cause for "appropriate use" and asked you and them to join. Or, I could have tagged you in their pictures, or told them to poke you. Or organized one on one chat sessions. Or best of all, created an "app for that" ... the possibilities were limitless

I used to be afraid of the
I used to be afraid of the market place, I cant go there alone without a company I trust. Now I am afraid of the internet. Why? Simply because if you are online you ought to be on facebook at some point. And on facebook you have 369 friend requests from the kids who beat you senseless in elementary school and a few chat pop ups from the "almost cousins". I don't need people as much as facebook and its loyal visitors wish me to. Now before I click connect I stare and bite unconsciously for some time.
And what is it with friends and family showing you pictures on facebook of themselves and their friends weddings and so on when they find you in person? :0

p.s- Changed my mind about the uppercut/roundhouse combo. I hope it won't be too late to convince Zukerberg not to go with that one cause he just loved the idea.
