Artist Yohannes Gedamu died
"One of the most celebrated Ethiopian Artist Yohannes Gedamu passed away after a serious illness on Sunday March 7, 2010. He was laid to rest on Monday at St Yoseph Church at 3:00pm.
Yohannes attended the Fine Art School of Addis Ababa from 1962 to 1967, graduating from the painting Department. Following his graduation he taught art and worked as a scenery designer. He managed the Rainbow Art Agency & Gallery before first moving to Mombassa in1975, then Germany in 1980 where he was well recognized and collected. Since coming home in 1997, Yohannes has deeply influenced today's young artists."
I chatted with him on facebook not long ago . Makes you wonder how unpredictable this life can be.
May he rest in peace :'(

Piku it was Charc who introduced me to him and his works. We went to Leo's gallery once to see his works. He was giving lecture at Goethe Institute not long ago but I was busy with other things so I didn't go. He is my fb friend and we chatted a couple of times.
